I've had this car for the last 8 years, and finally got everything mechanically 100% two summers ago. Literally every single mechanical, suspension, and drivetrain component on this car has been rebuilt or replaced. It drives as good as it ever did, and with a modern power plant under the hood (and a ford motor, not a SBC) you can rely on it to cruise for long trips without any worries.
This car is originally from Texas and is one of the most solid bodies that I have ever seen on a vehicle from this era. It's an amazing car if you like a vintage custom with some miles on it (this was likely done in the 70/80's).
Here's a list of what we've updated in the last year or two. Mechanically the car is super-reliable and safe, with all new powerplant, drivetrain, and electrical. We like the patina of the current paint job (Looks awesome from 10 feet), but the body is so physically solid (no rust, extremely solid underneath), it is a great candidate if you have been looking for a solid ride to do paint and interior on to your style.
Here's the breakdown:
Frenched headlights, tail lights Extremely solid body with no under body rust--was a TX car and spent the last 20 years garaged in a warehouse. Decent interior, done in the 80's. White mohair interior liner, candy striped seats (a few seam splits, but comfortable)
Engine & Suspension Freshly machined 302 with all new accessories New Edelbrock 500cfm carb New exhaust system, including porter mufflers Jamco 302 Motor Mounts Jamco 49 Ford Deluxe Lowering Kit, with Shocks. 2" Drop Complete rebuild of front and rear suspension, all brakes and lines Kingpins replaced New Aluminum Radiator New Vintage Air Heat/AC system. New poly gas tank
Transmission & Drivetrain Completely rebuilt C4 65/66 Mustang rear end 8" 3:00 New balanced driveshaft Lokar shifter and lit gear indicator New set of Diamond whitewalls, non-matching spare in the trunk.
Electrical Complete rewire with rebel wire harness. Auto-Loc remote entry system with solenoids and poppers in front doors and trunk. Electric Wiper Drive from New Port Engineering Ryan's super secret iPod sound system setup, with pioneer amp under front seat, and a vintage audio speaker in the dash. Sounds great.
Interior Haneline 4-n-1 Gauge Cluster Set of Julianos belts (with proper anchors) Complete floor lined with like-dynamat New carpet
Issues Trunk latch is set up for remote popper, but the latch is something that still needs to be addressed. Car has wonderful 25 year old patina on the paint job, if you want a new gem, it will need paint. Horn ring will zap you, so we switched to a horn button on the dash for now On incredibly hot summer days, we've sat in line enough to think about installing an electric fan on the front of the radiator. Hood is not perfect and has some pinching around the hinges where it is bending a little bit. It's structurally good, but if you repaint you will need to do some metal work to make it Really nice.
It's a beautiful car that gets a lot of attention, email me if you are interested or want more information on the car. Clear title, looking for a clean easy sale.
