 Vehicle Description
One of 2048 built in 1967 and documented in the Shelby World Registry. This former show car was fully restored in 1987, shown for a limited time and placed in a climate controlled warehouse in December of the same year. Now available from a private collection, this time capsule Shelby has under 52k original miles with its restoration completed at 48.5k miles. Originally delivered to Koons Ford in Fall Church, VA on 6/30/67 with a 428 Dual Quad engine which was purchased new by Lindsay H. Nobel Jr. on 9/27/67. Now running a replacement ultra rare 427 side oiler engine (developed for Ford racing) mated to the original top loader 4 speed transmission with a a Hurst competition shifter. A state of the art fuel delivery system & linkage supplies fuel to four Weber 48IDA carburetors on top of a Holman Moody aluminum intake manifold sparked by an original FoMoCo dual point distributor with aluminum 427 valve covers and a Cobra aluminum finned oil pan. Built 30 over with 427 stroker pistons and solid lifters the engine has been balanced & blueprinted, pushing a conservative 450hp and eligible to compete on the vintage racing circuit. Restored by a 30+ year employee of Ford Motor Co. with all original Ford parts and sold to Aeronaut Racing in Dayton, Ohio to be the first Shelby GT500 competing in the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) but never raced. Original Wimbledon White taken down to bare metal with glass removed, engine out and resprayed in multi coat clear coat lacquer in period correct Nightmist Blue Metallic with White Lemans racing stripes. All the sheet metal, fiberglass, windows and interior are original to the car. The lower rear side scoops are functional as well. The rear end is a 3:50 Traction Lok with a nodular case connected to a special high strength alloy 31 spline axles, well capable of handling the tremendous horse power of this Sideoiler. Freshly serviced, tuned, Webers synced.
