 Vehicle Description
Its OK if youve been watching TV auctions and figured that youd never be able to afford a clean mid-year Corvette roadster. After all, theyre all six-figure cars now, right? Wrong. This gorgeous Mosport Green 1966 example, complete with a 4-speed no less, is a great example of a drivers Corvette that wont break the bank. Code 982 Mosport Green is just barely green; its more like a silver car onto which a light fog has settled, and the effect is brilliant. Underneath that spectacular paint, the fiberglass body is beautifully rendered, with crisp details and expert attention to detail. Heck, just look at the crease that encircles the body, which is incredibly easy to sand away when working the fiberglass. And the gaps were surely never this good when these cars left the factory, and they are instead the result of hundreds of man-hours spent getting everything just right. There are no stress cracks in the usual locations around the headlight doors, and the substrate is so smoothly finished that the surface is like liquid. Add in some beautiful chrome bumpers, those gorgeous side pipes that sound even better than they look, and suddenly this car looks like it SHOULD cost a million bucks. The black interior works superbly with the Mosport Green bodywork, giving it plenty of contrast yet retaining that upscale feel. It certainly appears that the interior work is fresh, with seats that offer a warm, inviting look and a woodgrained steering wheel. New carpets, beautifully finished door panels, and those twin hoods make this a first-class cabin with exactly zero needs. Note that this is a factory A/C car, with correct vents and controls, and the original AM/FM radio remains in the dash. All the original gauges are functional and look quite good for being nearly half a century old. Overhead theres a black vinyl convertible top that was installed some years ago, but the great thing about Corvette roadsters is that you hardly ever see the top-its purely for emergencies. The 327 cubic inch V8 under the hood sounds like nothing else in the Corvette stable. With a high-lift camshaft, solid lifters, and a snarling, ripping exhaust note, this most potent 327 is the ideal dance partner if you enjoy going around corners as much as brute acceleration. The engine bay was nicely detailed with Chevy Orange paint, those beautiful cast aluminum valve covers, and correct chrome tinwork on the air cleaner and ignition system. This Vette also offers awesome side pipes and an ultra-clean undercarriage. Four recent 7.75-15 gold-line tires have been fitted to the original wheels with spinner hubcaps for the perfect vintage look. Yes, this car is every bit as nice as it looks, and the only thing separating this one from one of those six-figure cars are a few numbers on the side of the engine block. I think I could live with that. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom. For more information, please call (704) 598-2130 or toll free (866) 542-8392.
