| Motoexotica is offering another awesome Oldsmobile 88. This 1959 Olds 88 is an original California, black plate car that came to Oklahoma in May of 2009. The 82,000 miles on the car is said to be original by the previous owner but the title says the mileage is exempt due to age. This is a solid, California example of a mild custom that is not overly done and looks just right. Sitting three inches lower then stock, the car rides on period correct Astro Supremes with white wall radials tires. The body on the car is laser straight and shows no areas of major body filler or repair. Both doors close nice and tight as well as the trunk with good body lines around each. The paint is new and is finished in a custom blend of Aztec Bronze and Sunset Gold with a hand painted pin stripe. As you can see, the door handles have been shaved and smoothed which looks great. On the key pad there is a remote for the windows to go up and down. The car has been nosed and decked, removing all of the emblems to give it a sleeker, smoother look. All of the trim is nearly perfect as well as the bumpers and grill. During restoration, all the trim was removed and wither plated or polished to give it a like new shine. Inside, the seats have been recovered in a bone colored material featuring a custom pattern. The same goes for the door panels and rear parcel tray which has aftermarket speakers installed. The carpet and headliner are also new and in great condition with no major wear or staining to be found. The padded dash looks great as does the steering wheel which shows no cracking. All gauges are in good working order as well as the lights, blinkers and horn. The wipers are currently off the car and in the trunk to give it a sleeker look but they do work and can be put back on if you desire. There is a stereo hidden in the glove box that works with no problems. Under the hood, the big 371 Cu In V8 runs great and starts with no problems. This is connected to a Hydramatic transmission that shifts with no problems. The motor is very clean and nicely detailed and has had Edelbrock valve covers installed to dress it up. The car does come with power steering and power brakes. In the trunk there is a full size spare and jack and it has been nicely carpeted. The underside of the car is very solid with no rust showing that we have found. To get the stance they were looking for, the car was lowered three inches using short springs and new shocks. This did not compromise the ride quality of the car and is still very smooth on the road. New white wall radial tires have been installed around period correct Astro Supreme wheels that look great and really set off the old school, custom look. VIN number is 597C02495 and the car is being sold on a mileage exempt Oklahoma title. Included with the purchase is the original California registration that shows that the car was originally sold in 1958 to a couple in La Habra California. |
