After years of being relegated to the B-list, it seems that 70s Trans Ams are now top-shelf collectables, with the best ones like this 1977 W72 getting expensive professional restorations. NOS replacement parts where used when needed and images of the restoration works and receipts have all been documented and kept. The original Cameo White paint was professionally laid down over clean sheet metal and looks stunning. Those prominent Trans Am decals were likewise placed back on this 77 with great care, and probably look better than the originals. And speaking of what is right about the car, how about that tinted glass T-top, which no self-respecting 70s Trans Am should be without. The rear window also sports the 70s iconic black louvers and when all these styling bits are taken together, this car makes a strong reflection of that era. Fit and finish, thanks to that rotisserie restoration, are likely better than new, and while there might have been a day when these cars were considered over-styled, that day isnt today-it looks awesome! Inside, the restoration included replacement vinyl seat covers, carpeting and any other areas that needed attention. That red color you see mixing with the white interior is known as Oxen and it certainly makes a statement thats upscale and elegant, not muscle car brash. The dash board, center console and steering wheel are all in strong condition. Other than an aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette player expertly installed in the dash, it remains completely stock. Options include power steering and brakes, tilt wheel, power windows and air conditioning; being a full time Southern Belle, this Pontiac had to have it. Also indicative of clean southern living was the original trunk mat, which was in excellent shape and was reinstalled when the restoration was complete. Power comes from the original, numbers-matching 400 cubic inch V8, which was still a genuine Pontiac in 1977. Sadly, that giant shaker-style hood scoop was just for show by then, but it sits atop the original air cleaner and Quadrajet carburetor, and actually inhales some cool air from up front. Pontiac Turquoise paint really stands out against the satin black engine bay, and while its dark in there, the details stand out. Correct finishes have been used throughout, giving it a very OEM look that will surely win some trophies. That 400 is backed by a genuine shift-it-yourself 4-speed manual linked to a set of 3.23 gears out back, so this bird is a fantastic high-speed cruiser. Theres more impressive detailing underneath, right down to the red oxide floors and stock style exhaust system. Handsome snowflake wheels are iconic today, and wear fat 235/70/15 white-letter radials.
