 Vehicle Description
This gorgeous first generation Camaro was born during the third week of April 1968 in Norwood, OH and retains it original numbers matching driveline which consists of a L34 396 ci 350 hp engine, a Turbo 400 transmission and a 12 bolt posi-traction rear end with a 3:31 gear ratio. It is an original RS/SS which added a long list of factory options which include a special radiator grille with concealed headlights (not working), parking lights in the front valance, special taillights, back-up lights in the rear valance, lower body moldings with black paint below them, wheel opening moldings, front header and body side paint (hockey) stripes, “SS” fuel filler cap, “SS” grill, “SS” front fender emblems, special hood with simulated air intakes, black painted rear panel, special front and rear shock absorbers, special front and rear springs, finned front brake drums, engine emblems on the front fender and bright engine chrome. The 3rd and current owner purchased this car in 1989 at which time the exterior color had been changed from Ash Gold (G) to Matador Red (R) and the interior had been changed from Gold (722) to Black (714). The current owner was not happy with the way the previous restoration was aging and decided to have the car redone in 1999. During this restoration the car received all NOS GM metal and the paint was changed to its current color of Grotto Blue (D) which still shows incredibly well. At the same time the interior was redone in a Deluxe Black which perfectly accents the black hockey stripes and black convertible top. In addition to the paint and interior the engine was completely rebuilt at the same time and the transmission and rear end were also gone through. Additionally, the front brakes were upgraded to disc brakes (the original finned drum brakes are included). Since its completion it has been driven less than 1,000 miles so it has held up incredibly well. If you have been looking for a numbers matching first generation RS/SS 396 Camaro Convertible you will be hard pressed to find one in this condition for the price we are asking so don’t wait to contact us as it might be too late!
