Classic Car Marketing, Inc. Southern Californias premier marketing company is pleased to introduce this new listing offered for sale by one of our clients.
This spectacular custom 1960 Dodge Phoenix is a truly a vision from the past. As a young man, our client loved the brochures which were used by all the manufactures in the 50s and 60s for the point of sale merchandise. The only problem was the cars never ended up looking much like the vision in the artist rendering, in fact they werent even close. In 1960 Dodge launched a family sports coupe that had everything going for it. The original rendering showed this amazing long and low stunning two door coupe that had people waiting in line for the first one to arrive, but the car was not even close to the vision, and hence, it came and went.
So, for this client, it became all about the design to match the car to the vision. Fast forward 40 years and now he owns one of the most exclusive Hot Rod shops in the world. His dream was to build cars how the artist would have originally intended them to look and now he made his dream come true.
Our client started with a very clean example of this 60 Dodge and broke it down bolt by bolt, until the entire car was in pieces. He then chopped the roof 4 inches, custom formed a new rear window frame and peaked the fenders. Then the car was fully smoothed to give it just the right look with door handles, locks and badging removed. A 60 Cadillac front bumper was narrowed 6 inches and given a triple plated mirror finish. Just for fun he added a 60 T Bird trunk center section to give the car some depth and texture. The car rides on a custom air-ride system with the rear frame being C notched to lay out the car on the ground. The original 318 engine was bored 30 over and color matched to the car to continue the design flow and the engine compartment is finished out in billet and chrome. Just featured on the front cover of Rod & Custom magazine, USA, and the next issue of Australia''s "Cruzin" magazine, the Dodge won Top Radical Hardtop at the Grand National Roadster Show, 2013, and was then judged the World''s Most Beautiful Custom car at the prestigious Sacramento Autorama, 2013. The car will be on display at the Goodguys Rod and Custom events in Pleasanton, and Del Mar this March, 2013. Rolling works of art just dont get better than this. Offered at $165,000 OBO.
