 Vehicle Description
Whenever I see a survivor like this it always brings a smile to my face -- especially when it's a grand hunk of vintage mid-century steel like this 1950 Chrysler Imperial.

The Imperial was Chrysler's top-of-the-line model from 1926 until 1955, when it spun off as its own marque. As Mopar's Cadillac and Lincoln competitor, the Imperial was luxurious and spacious -- grand in every sense of the word -- and this survivor is still quite impressive today.

A freshly rebuilt Chrysler flathead straight-8 lies under the hood (1950 was the last year the straight-8 was offered) mated to an innovative 4-speed Presto-Matic transmission. The Presto-Matic, also marketed as a Fluidtorque, is a two-speed manual gearbox with an electric overdrive that functions in both low and high gear -- which effectively offers four forward gears. It's easy to drive and requires less shifting and clutch action than a purely manual gearbox.

Standard luxury items for 1950 included power windows, which still work -- truly rare for this era. Fitted with a very plush interior done in understated taupe, the door panels and padded dash are in great shape. Exterior paint is correct Shell Grey; it's a driver-quality older paint job, but is rust free. This Imperial is riding on period-correct whitewall tires with correct hubcaps.

The car includes its original partial build sheet, color chips, owner's manual, shop manual, and instructional booklet for the Fluidtorque transmission.

With 53,796 believed to be original miles, this classic runs great and would make an excellent driver or light restoration project (or you could enjoy it as-is for years or decades to come -- it runs and drives very well). Give us a call at 404-692-5250 for more information.
