 Vehicle Description
Now THIS is how you do cool. Take one clean 1966 Chevy II wagon, add a 350 cubic inch V8, and fill it with options so its ready to haul cross-country in comfort. With an awesome stock look, this is the machine that will get more attention than the rod you tow behind it. Stripped to bare metal and rebuilt from there, this car has a very authentic look to it. Whatever rust there was (almost none) was replaced using fresh steel, and the work is invisible under that handsome Mist Blue paint, which is a correct 1966 color. They added a cowl induction hood, which provides a very cool contrast on the square wagon body, but otherwise it is as the factory intended, roof rack and all. All four doors fit quite well, and if you think its a challenge getting a trunk lid to fit, you should try a tailgate with a roll-down rear window! The original badges were reinstalled, and the list of new stuff includes all the door handles, both front and rear bumpers, and the windshield, while the rest of the glass was given a medium tint just to make it look extra slick. And it works. The all-new interior was restored to factory specs, including both bench seats, door panels, and the carpets, which reproduce the original equipment quite nicely. Somehow the industrial look of the 3-speed shifter sticking out of the transmission tunnel is exactly right on this sleeper, and with a cue ball knob, it has a definite period vibe. The instrument panel houses the aftermarket gauges, which certainly look very OEM, plus a Vintage Air A/C system has been expertly integrated and looks almost factory-installed. Theres also a new Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the center of the dash, which sounds even better than youd expect thanks to extensive use of Dynamat throughout the interior and new weather seals on the doors. Theres also a 200-watt amplifier hidden in the left rear quarter panel. The cargo bay is downright huge, making this an ideal parts hauler for the next swap meet. Although the decal says 302, thats actually a freshly built 350 dressed to look like something that might have been born there almost fifty years ago. Chevy Orange paint on the block, simple stamped steel valve covers, and a functioning cowl-induction system give it a period look, although the serpentine belt system is from a 1986 Corvette. Theres also a new radiator, new power disc brakes from a Chevelle, a fresh clutch ahead of the New Process 3-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, and a great-sounding dual exhaust system. A 10-bolt rear with 3.08 gears means highway cruising is effortless, and a Class III hitch has been neatly hidden behind the rear license plate, so this little wagon can pull your racer in style and comfort. Lowering blocks and spindles give it a mildly aggressive stance, and it sits perfectly on 6- and 7-inch Rallys with 215/70/15 front and 225/70/15 rear BFGoodrich redline radials. A fantastic car all by itself, but few hobby cars are also this practical. Take this one to the next cruise night and watch where the crowds form--wagons are red hot, so call now! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom. For more information, please call (678) 279-1609 or toll free (877) 367-1835.
