This vehicle was purchased in 2006 from the estate of a Henry J enthusiast. The car looks to be in original / stock condition. The paint also appears to be original but I have been told by a KF expert that black is not a normal factory color (special order only) so I cannot confirm this with 100% certainty. The only rust on the car is the surface rust underneath. The body & floors are 100% rust-free. The car was stored in a garage on blocks for roughly 30 years and all fluids except oil were removed before storage (gas, coolant, brake fluid). The extra effort involved in caring for the long-term condition of the vehicle paid off as I was able to easily get the vehicle running smoothly after only changing the battery and filling the fluids.
The motor sounds as smooth as it should with only 24,000 miles. Before the car’s most recent (one year) stretch in heated storage I drove it once around the block to make sure everything else checked out. Items that I identified as needed addressing are the brakes (work but are hanging up) and lights (headlights and taillights not operational). I'm sure new wheel cylinders and a little lube on the brake internals will cure the brake issue and although I have not yet looked into the causes, I do not think that either issue will require much effort or expense to fix. Unfortunately, I currently have other classic car projects that compete for my time, energy, and storage space.
The pictures do not do the car justice but hopefully the vehicle’s excellent condition is apparent. The only items major cosmetic items that need addressing are a small dent in the roof on the passenger side and non-matching seats. I can forward pics of these two items upon request.
