 Vehicle Description
This 1949 Chevrolet 3100 is looking for a job. Willing to put in long hours and look good doing it, it can still be used as a truck. On the other hand, these are also some great-driving vehicles, with a comfortable ride and reasonable power in addition to those timeless good looks. Capture the best of both worlds with a hobby vehicle that you can use as Chevrolet intended and still drive it to the local cruise night where itll draw a crowd. The color appears to be a custom mix, which is perfectly OK since Chevy would paint your truck any color you wanted if you were a fleet buyer. With the Shell decals on the doors, this one looks like the one outside the local service station in, say, 1955. The Advance Design pickups are a favorite among truck enthusiasts, and they were one of the first trucks to take into account that just maybe all those farmers and carpenters wanted something that was stylish and comfortable as well as durable and versatile. Up front theres a chrome grille thats in great shape, and all the body panels appear to be OEM. The beds a little weathered, but it goes with the look of the rest of the truck, which shows off its blue-collar roots with pride. It still wants to work. The interior covers the basics, and thats part of the trucks charm. The bench seat will accommodate three, and has been reupholstered in brown vinyl. The steel dashboard is a handsome design and like many trucks of this era, there is no radio ... even a heater was optional in 1949. Three-on-the-tree shifting is easy thanks to the large diameter steering wheel, and theres a modern turn signal unit mounted on the column for safety. Its not exactly luxurious, but its a great place to experience the 40s. With some TLC, it could be downright amazing. Chevys "Stovebolt Six" is under the hood doing its job, and if youve ever driven a vehicle with one of these engines, you know theyre smooth and torquey. The Chevy Orange paint isnt correct, but the family resemblance is definitely there. It fires up easily and idles well. Maintenance is simple, and keeping these running is never a chore. On this one, the hoses, belts, plugs, wires, starter, and fuel pump appear to be recent, and it retains the original 6-volt electrical system, oil bath air filter, and canister style oil filter. This one rides on a set of recent 6x16 blackwalls mounted to the original steel rims with simple hubcaps. Fun hobby vehicles dont get much more affordable than this, and when theyre also useful the argument is easy to make. Call today and give this truck a job! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom. For more information, please call (704) 598-2130 or toll free (866) 542-8392.
