 Vehicle Description
If youre a rodder with a family, perhaps a fat-fendered 40s piece like this 1948 Chevrolet coupe might be just what youre looking for. It offers the timeless good looks that made GM in the 1940s the envy of the world, a reliable small block V8 under the hood, and a spacious, comfortable leather interior thats the ideal place to spend some time on the road. The sweeping fenders on this 1948 Chevy just lend themselves perfectly to the two-tone paint treatment, which is both a tribute to the cars that came before and the flashy 50s that would follow. Turning the usual paint combination upside-down, the blue metallic upper body combined with gray fenders highlights some of this cars most interesting features. Of course, the work is nicely done, attractive enough to get a second glance at shows, and thanks to modern paint technology, its durable enough to hit the road without a second thought. Some of the more popular tricks have been worked with the steel, including shaved door handles and trim, a painted grille, and a Veed windshield. The chrome that does remain, including the bumpers, hood ornament, and trunk handle, has all been refinished to sparkle against the two-tone paint. If you want some attention, just try cruising for an afternoon in this Chevy. This Chevys interior is one of those that combines the original design and some OEM touches that give it an entirely new look. The pillow-tufted power bucket seats and matching rear bench were lifted from a late-model luxury car and look great in this application. The rear bench was lightly massaged to fit in the narrower Chevy coupe bodywork, but the overall look is polished and professionally finished. The original dashboard remains intact and painted gray to match the interior, and custom tweed door panels were stitched together to give it a finished look. Original instruments have given way to modern gauges hidden behind the original fascia, so it has a classic look with modern reliability, and the giant speedometer in the original opening looks awesome. A tilt column with a late-model Chevy steering wheel, under-dash air conditioning, and what appears to be an original heater, all add to the cruising comfort this car offers. Theres also a great-sounding AM/FM/CD stereo system, and the very spacious trunk is fully upholstered with remote releases for the doors and a battery cut-off switch. The engine is a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8, the perfect choice when your plan is to hit the road. For a little extra power, theres an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor up top, along with a set of Chevy double-hump heads that combine with a mild cam to give it a great hot-rod sound thats still totally streetable. Accessories are stacked tight to the block and service access is quite good, and everything from the wiring to the power steering and brake systems have been replaced. A TH350 3-speed automatic and a 10-bolt rear make for a reliable powertrain, and Chevy Rally wheels with spinners give it a performance look, especially with wide 225/70/15 Cooper radials. Fully sorted and with a great look that will win fans everywhere it goes, this Chevy deserves a closer look if you love to drive your hardware. Call today!
