 Vehicle Description
Classic Car Marketing, Inc. Southern Californias premier marketing company is pleased to introduce this new listing offered for sale by one of our clients.
This is the1934 Ford Convertible Golden Nugget. This is how the story goes: This multiple show winning custom was originally built by the legendary 50s renowned customizer Bill Hines and won the Ford Rotunda Custom Car Show in 1955, was featured in Car Craft Magazine August, 1955, and in 1958 won the Detroit Autorama Best Altered Street Roadster. Marty Ribits, the original owner, showed The Golden Nugget for another few years, then he put the car in his barn. After she sat for about 30 years he started to restore it, got ill, gave the car to his nephew, who never was able to restore it, so it sat even longer. The Golden Nuggets present owner let the car sit for another 5 years before he had the incentive to restore it. That incentive was to have the car at the Detroit Autorama where the original builder, Bill Hines, was to be indoctrinated into the Hot Rod Hall Of Fame. The present owner wanted the car to be at that show as a tribute to Bill Hines and to have the car in the same condition as when Bill originally built it. The owner then gingerly began a full on, day and night, 6 month restoration starting with a complete bare metal body and new frame. Bill Hines during the course of the original build had channeled the body 6 inches, sectioned the grill 6 inches, stretched the hood 2 inches, and moved the rear fenders up 3.5 inches. The present owner was able to complete the restoration in time, and it was not only a hit when Bill Hines saw it, but it took the coveted 2005 Detroit Autorama Meguires Preservation Award. The Golden Nugget is still powered with its original 322 Buick motor, 3-2 Rochester carb, chrome covers, spark plug covers, and new radiator. the Ford 8 inch rear end that Marti installed remains intact and the full custom interior was restored to its original 50s rolled and pleated interior, with stock modified dash, Stewart Warner gauges, and handmade stainless steering column. There is only about 10 miles on the car since the restoration. Offered at $147,500 OBO. She needs a new home.
