 Vehicle Description
A lot of guys claim they just want a Corvette to drive. Well, here it is. With a 330 horsepower crate motor, a 4-speed gearbox, and a load of options, this 1974 Corvette roadster is made for the road. Guys shopping for trailer queens and paperwork collectors can go somewhere else, because were having too much fun running this one through the gears!

If you look at the paint charts, youll see that GM called this particular shade of burgundy "Medium Red." So its not the most creative name, and it can either use code 974 or 74L on the body tag (this one is 74L), but the color looks right on the mid-70s Corvette curves. This one is driver-grade throughout, and theres no shame in that. Get bugs on it, drive it in the rain, and generally have some fun, it doesnt mind. Its nice enough to happily soak up all the attention youll give it on a Saturday afternoon, polishing and waxing the sleek bodywork, and unlike many Corvettes of the era, this one fits together well and all the panels line up right, so someone was paying attention when it went together. The point is, this is a good-looking car that doesnt need a lot of fussing, and given the long list of replacement parts under the skin, its pretty clear that someone invested a lot of time and effort on the car to make it right. The headlight doors work properly, the badges are shiny, the front grilles were powdercoated, and, well, the car looks great without being a parody of itself like so many C3s end up.

The black leather interior is also correct for this particular car, and those handsome original seat covers are in great shape. Theres new foam underneath, so theyre supportive and comfortable on long hauls and leather seems like the right choice in a Corvette. And yes, thats a genuine, shift-it-yourself 4-speed manual gearbox in the center console. Other goodies include A/C with an R134a refrigerant upgrade, a tilt/telescope steering column, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo in the stock location. Both the steering wheel and shift knob are new and wrapped in matching black leather and theres a custom hidden compartment in the center console. As a convertible, its especially important that the weather-stripping is new, as are the carpets. The black vinyl-covered removable hardtop is a desirable option along with a black convertible top underneath.

The original engine is gone, replaced by a strong-running GM crate motor making 330 horsepower. The list of new mechanical equipment is a page long, so call us for all the details, but the highlights include a new alternator, A/C compressor, clutch, water pump, 600 CFM 4-barrel carburetor, radiator, and an HEI ignition system. A set of Corvette valve covers were powdercoated and reinstalled, along with a few chrome dress-up pieces to make things sparkle. Underneath, the 4-speed feeds a fresh 3.08 rear end, so its an effortless cruiser and that powerful engine doesnt mind the relatively tall gears. New sway bars, bushings, springs, and shocks mean it actually corners like a Corvette should and the shiny aluminum wheels are fitted with 235/70/15 Goodyear radials that have plenty of life left in them.

This is a nicely built 4-speed Vette that moves like a much younger car. Theres obviously lots more than the asking price tied up in it, so dont hesitate and call today!
