 Vehicle Description
The quality shows on this 1939 Ford cabriolet, and its one of those cars you couldnt even come close to duplicating for the asking price. Starting with an all-steel body, it was meticulously crafted to combine high style and high performance in one incredibly trick package. Starting with Henry Ford steel, this cabrio was subtly reshaped and refined by a guy who clearly knew what he was doing. The windshield was chopped (as was the folding top, which fits superbly), but the 1939 Ford Standard bodywork is pretty much the way Henry intended. The sleek nose is an evolution of the 38 Deluxe, as was Fords tradition, and its art-deco look will always have a large group of admirers. Things like the door handles and trunk trim were shaved, but other details like the stainless side trim, body-colored grille, and teardrop taillights are pretty much as they were in 1939. Henry Ford didnt much care for red, probably because the paint was expensive, and you just cant argue that it doesnt look fantastic on this ragtop. Panel gaps are tight, the hood fits well, and the rumble seat lid is power actuated just for extra style points. The windshield was Veed and seamed to create a 1-piece look that makes this cabriolet look extra sleek, top up or top down. Red leather was the material of choice inside, where the interior has been artfully crafted to offer modern levels of comfort. The split bench is every bit as comfortable as it looks, and although the car was finished some years ago, shows only very minor signs of use. In fact, the comfort marks on the leather might even enhance the inviting look, dont you think? The dash is a beautifully woodgrained piece of art, housing beautiful Stewart-Warner instruments, and youll note how carefully integrated things like the A/C vents and controls are. Custom carpets in a contrasting dark red with bright red piping give it an upscale look, and a tilt column with a leather-wrapped banjo wheel looks right in the vintage cockpit. The top is finished with black canvas and folds neatly behind the front seat. Even the rumble seat is a miniature work of art with matching red leather upholstery and stylish side panels. Motive force comes from a 350 Chevy making about 325 horsepower, so performance is lively to say the least. Billet dress up parts give it a finished look, and service access remains excellent with evidence of thoughtful planning throughout the engine bay. The firewall has been smoothed, and extra care was used in the routing of wires and plumbing to keep things neat and orderly underhood. The engine is backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic and a 9-inch Ford rear end, and the front suspension is a Mustang II setup with disc brakes. Everything underneath the car is bright red as well, and while it has been driven and enjoyed, the quality is evident in every single component, from the fresh Flowmaster exhaust to the custom gas tank out back. Beautiful polished Halibrand-style wheels with spinners are an awesome period touch, and they wear staggered 185/75/14 front and 235/75/15 rear radials. An incredible build that still looks fresh and drives like a million bucks. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
