 Vehicle Description
If you think all the solid, clean Mustangs are gone, take another look at this lovely 1965 Mustang coupe. You can call it a survivor, with its original driveline fully intact, it is exactly the kind of car that is only now seeing a resurgence within the hobby. You can restore a car all you like, but theyre only original once, and until youve driven a survivor, you just dont know what youre missing. They really do feel different. The paint isnt original, but it is nicely done and accurately replicates the original Silver Blue Metallic finish. In addition, there are no signs of significant bodywork or repairs, which means is that someone really cared about this car and it was obviously never someones daily driver. In the same vein, the chrome and trim has been very well preserved and only replaced as necessary over the cars lifetime. Bumpers are superb, and the rocker panel trim is clean and undamaged. Appropriate Mustang badges and logos are still affixed to the body as original, and the iconic 3-element taillight lenses are still clear and bright. Inside youll find a code 22 Dark Blue Crinkle bucket seat interior, much of which is original. The seats are in excellent condition and like the rest of the car, are probably too nice for their age, so they may be replacement seat covers. Carpets are new, and the headliner remains taut and stain-free. The original AM radio still works, and the door panels show you what 1965 OEM craftsmanship was like, which is why survivors are so special-the perfection we achieve with restored cars today doesnt really reflect the reality. Everything works, including all the gauges, making this a very friendly, easy-to-own Mustang. This particular Mustang is still powered by its original code C 289 cubic inch V8, which was rated at 200 horsepower in 1965. With a 2-barrel carburetor and an automatic, this one wasnt built with the drag strip in mind, but it is satisfyingly quick, with a great V8 burble from the tailpipe. The engine bay is nicely detailed, with black paint on the engine and some chrome dress-up items like the air cleaner and valve covers, and judging by the clean undercarriage, it obviously comes from someplace warm and dry. A C4 3-speed automatic feeds the 2.80 gears out back and tires are recent 205/70/14 whitewall radials on gorgeous styled steel wheels. Regularly maintained and highly reliable, this is one of those hobby cars that you can just get in and drive whenever the mood strikes you. Someone clearly cherished this car from day one, and it has only been in the hands of caring owners since it was new. A warm, dry climate never hurts, and the best examples are those with no stories and no excuses. This is such a car. Not a show-winner, but exactly the kind of hobby car that gets people excited when they see it because everyone remembers when they had one just like it. This is a lot of Mustang fun for not a lot of money. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
