In 1977, Chevrolet was honored with pacing the Indy 500 with a Corvette. In March of 1978, the Special Limited Edition Pace Car was manufactured with only one Pace Car per dealer allotted. A total of 6,502 Pace Cars were produced that year. This is your chance to own an investment quality 1978 Corvette Pace Car that is all original except for the tires. It is an amazing survivor car with only 10,640 original miles. It is in near perfect condition and comes with the window sticker, sales brochure, and original owner photo.
All Pace Car edition Corvettes were equipped with the new glass T-tops, alloy wheels, power windows, rear defogger, air conditioning, sport mirrors, tilt/telescope steering wheel, heavy-duty battery, power door locks, and an AM/FM stereo with either an eight-track tape player or CB radio. The CB radio in this Corvette is still in the car and it looks like it was never used as it is in excellent new condition. It also has dual rear speakers.
The final touch was a set of regalia decals for owner installation. These included "winged wheel" Indy Speedway logos for the rear fenders and legends for the doors reading "Official Pace Car, 62nd Annual Indianapolis 500 Mile Race, May 28, 1978.
