 Vehicle Description
Mustangs dont get much better than this 1970 Mach 1 fastback. Aside from maybe a Boss or perhaps a Shelby, the Mach 1 is at the top of every collectors wish list. This one packs a numbers-matching 351 Cleveland motor, a beautifully done paint job, and a predatory look that will make it the star of any show.

Repainted just a few years ago, this gorgeous Bright yellow Mach 1 fastback still looks like a million bucks. Well, maybe not a million, but these have been inching up in value pretty much every year, indicating that there are more than a few collectors out there who appreciate their good looks and brilliant performance. The finish is rendered in modern urethane, which gives the very bright yellow hue a depth that the original finish just couldnt match, and the satin black stripes with 351 callouts on the hood seem to hover above the surface. The panel work is quite good, although its not to concours standards, which is a good thing since youll probably want to drive this one every chance you get and the only reason any panels were replaced was purely for cosmetic reasons. The ribbed moldings along the rockers are crisp, and the rear window louvers and spoilers are the same satin black as the stripes, giving this Mach 1 a very predatory look, and yes, thats a hood tach which is one of the coolest accessories of all time.

Inside youll find-what else?-Fords Comfort-Weave black bucket seats, and they fit the Mach 1 like a tailored suit. All the soft parts, including the seats, door panels, dash pad, and headliner have been restored, and new carpets finish the floors. The instruments show quite well and the woodgrained inserts on the dash, door panels, and center console are in good condition, giving this sporty Mustang a contrasting luxury feel inside. The original AM radio still lives in the center of the dash, a nice touch that suggests that the restorers believed in originality. As the badges on the lower fenders indicated, theres a Hurst T-handle shifter for the 4-speed manual gearbox, and youll be pleased by how easily it falls to hand and how naturally quick shifts happen. Open the deck lid and youll find the trunk offers a reproduction mat and a surprising amount of space, especially with the fold-down rear seat.

Travelling is exactly what youll want to do once you hear that 351 under the hood bark to life. In the world of Fords, there are two versions of the 351, and the durable, streetable Cleveland is the one to own. Restored to stock specs, the Ford Blue powerplant still wears its original Shaker air cleaner and valve covers, along with the original Holley 4-barrel. For reliability, theres a Pertronix electronic ignition conversion, so it starts almost instantly and pulls smoothly, even from low speeds in 4th gear. The aforementioned 4-speed powers the original 9-inch rear, which carries 3.25 gears inside, making this a fine highway cruiser when youre not running hard. A fresh exhaust system with X-pipe and stainless Magnaflow mufflers sounds spectacular and it rides on a set of lovely 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels wearing staggered BFGoodrich rubber.

Fully documented with Marti report, owners manuals, and receipts from the restoration, you simply wont find a nicer Mach 1 for less money anywhere. Call today!
