| Vehicle Description |
1964 Plymouth Barracuda
This vehicle has been restored to near mint condition.
1964 was the 1st year for the Barracuda and it’s easily identified by the huge rear window and fold down rear seat. The 1964 Barracuda has a very interesting history worth reading up on.. quite a collector car.
*See history info at bottom.
This unique beauty was purchased and restored with the intent to keep in our family indefinitely.
(Unfortunately the economy has altered this plan.)
MUCH hard work, sweat, time and money was invested in this one- of- a- kind car…It is truly beautiful to look at.
This car was not restored to show..it is not perfect. But we are told regularly that we should show it. And keep it.
• This vehicle has the original 273 cid V-8 with a 3 spd tranny, the motor runs great and has no problems.
• There were no major rust issues when we got the car and all body work has been done and covered with a fresh coat of beautiful high quality Dupont sublime green paint with double black stripes.
• (Over $1500.00 in primer, paint and clear coat alone). The interior has been redone, new front upholstery, like new visors, new headliner, new carpet throughout, new glove box, new kick boards, good replacement door panels.
• *The interior was not repainted but is in fair original condition.
• The factory air conditioning has a new a/c compressor and dryer (but it does not get as cold as it should).
• New water pump, new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, new brake master cylinder, new voltage regulator, new alternator.
• It has 4 new 14” tires and matching original hubcaps.
• All glass is original with no cracks or chips.
• All trim and moldings are on car.
• New rubber, trunk, window, door gaskets, wipers, etc.
• It has a new alternator and voltage regulator.
Things that need addressing:
• The grill has a small knick in it.
• The heater core leaks and has been bypassed, so there is no heat.
• The exhaust system needs to be replaced.
• The original am radio is present but does not work at present.
• The dash pad has 2 splits in it, but not serious.
• The front seats were upholstered and look OK but may need attention in the future. (The seat foam was not replaced and the covers are not original.)
• There are two areas on the car that have small imperfections under the paint. These were overlooked before painting took place. They are under the primer, paint and clear coat.. One area is at the very bottom of the driver’s door and one area is on the passenger’s rear quarter panel. We did not feel that the flaws were noticeable enough to refinish and repaint the areas..But the paint can be mixed to match later if it is an issue.
• I have tried to describe this car in detail..If you are seriously interested, please feel free to ask any questions.
This is a great car and very dependable. It has been a daily driver for me since restoration..
Cranks every time..Really good on gas for an 8 cylinder..
Gets about 18 MPG. No leaks.
It’s a blast to drive and CONSTANTLY turns heads!
We have been told that we should not sell this vehicle for under $14,000, but we must sell it. We will consider all offers.
Replacement parts are easily found on Ebay and at mopar sites and shows. And fun to search for!
No warranty existing or implied, car is sold “as-is”. Buyer is responsible for pickup.
Car is now for sale locally and seller reserves the right to cancel auction at anytime if this car sells before the auction close.
*1964 Barracuda History
Automotive trends in the early-mid 1960s had all the US manufacturers looking at making sporty compact cars. Chrysler's A-body Plymouth Valiant was chosen for the company's efforts in this direction.[1]
Ford's Mustang, which significantly outsold the Barracuda, gave to this t |
