| Vehicle Description |
Built on January 12th, 1957, our Bird is an exciting example of Ford’s best. With less than 13,000 since its restoration by renowned Bob Pittman Classic Cars in Nashville, this Bird is first class in every way.
The body is in exceptional condition, metal and laser straight with gleaming paint. The removable porthole hardtop is correctly finished in Colonial white. The soft top is white also, with a clear rear window, great gaskets, fitment and function, but with minor use-abrasions. All the glass, seals, gaskets, chrome and stainless brite-work are as new; showing no deterioration or physical damage.
The colonial white interior is as new. Accessories - including the power windows - work as new, including the dealer-added under dash a/c. The original Wonderbar radio is included in the sale.
The frame and complete underside are original and were completely refreshed during restoration. There were no rust, corrosion or accident issues to contend with then or now…none!
The entire original drive train was rebuilt less than 13,000 miles ago too. The matching 312 CID/245 HP engine and 3-speed Ford-O-Matic start easily, run and drive smoothly and are as new. The power steering is responsive and tracks well, especially with the car’s Coker 205/75 R 14 wide white wall radials mounted on dealer installed Kelsey Hayes wire wheels. The factory power drum brakes are responsive and brake evenly; with less than 20% wear. The suspension, cooling and electrical systems have all been inspected and are in good order.
All in all, our ’57 Thunderbird is an exceptional car; a strong #2 show-driver that lacks for nothing and will exceed your expectations.
