 Vehicle Description
This freshly built 1938 Chevy coupe is one of those pro-built rods that make everyone elses car look like it was built from leftovers. Stunningly straight and filled with an interior thatll make your knees weak, its a car that you can drive every day without complaint and take home trophies every night. 1938 was a very good year in Detroit as far as styling was concerned, and this coupe features an OEM steel body with fiberglass fenders, all of which have been professionally finished to show standards. Dig the fit of the doors, the way the hood sits flush on all sides, and the deck lid that seems to invisibly blend into the body because the seams are so tight-that kind of work takes talent. It wasnt chopped or even shaved in any major way, and details like the wrap-around grille and delicate pedestal-mounted taillights remain in place as a tribute to the era. Most of the trim remains, although for a unique look, the grille and side trim are painted silver with a black outline for a very trick look. For fun, a set of SS badges were stuck on the sides of the cowl, and for safety, it features tiny lights under the headlamps to act as turn signals. Tinted glass gives it a sleek look, as does the V-butted windshield that completely transforms the look. That spectacular interior was just finished weeks ago, and offers distressed leather seating surfaces that are an unusual and refreshing contrast to all the shiny leather and tweed you usually find in these cars. The drivers seat is power adjustable, and a custom center console was fabricated, complete with cupholders for long road trips. The original dash now sports a pair of billet inserts, with the one in front of the driver hosting a complement of Stewart-Warner gauges. A GM tilt column was painted to match the body and topped by a leather-wrapped LaCarrera steering wheel. Vintage Air heat and A/C was discreetly tucked under the dash and uses R134a refrigerant, so its easy to service just about anywhere. A powerful AM/FM/CD stereo lives in the dash where the optional AM radio might have once lived, and things like power windows and locks are included. The fully upholstered trunk is as neatly finished as the interior, and experts will note that the gas tank has been relocated to the rear bulkhead for safety. The engine is a tried-and-true Chevy 350 making an estimated 300 horsepower. Its a tight fit in the pointed engine bay, and wears an Edelbrock intake and a brand new 4-barrel carb. A big aluminum radiator with electric fans keeps everything cool, and both power steering and power brakes are part of the deal. The engine is backed by a 200R4 4-speed automatic with lockup torque converter built to withstand 600 horsepower by the pros at PATC, and a traditional Ford 9-inch. They went the extra mile with the build, including adjustable coil-overs on the front suspension. Those polished wheels are brand new, too, and sport 185/60/15 front and 235/75/15 rear General radials. Fully sorted and ready to rumble, this 1938 Chevy is the kind of rod that youll find excuses to drive every chance you get. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
