 Vehicle Description
Up for sale in our Tampa showroom in this mean GOAT, the 1971 Pontiac GTO.The start of the classic "muscle car" era is often dated as the moment the 1964 Pontiac GTO went on sale but its, Pontiacs "Goat" for sale that was the original. The American love affair with V8 engines was already at least 32 years old (back to when the 1932 Ford, the first affordable V8, was introduced), and midsize V8-powered cars were available from every domestic manufacturer. But what the GTO for sale had was attitude ?" a bigger V8, hood scoops, the rumble of dual exhausts, a Hurst shifter, racy trim and a name stolen from Ferrari. Not just any Ferrari name either, but that of what many consider the greatest Ferrari of them all, the 250 GTO. Those three vaunted letters stood for "Gran Turismo Omologato". The Ferrari GTO was produced only so that Ferrari could race in a "production" GT class, which the GTO dominated. Only 10,532 GTOs were built during 71 with 9,854 of those being hardtops and 678 being convertibles. This particular coupe sports a built 400 C.I.D V8 and TH400 4 speed automatic. The options list is this; Power brakes, power steering, seat belts, vinyl interior, radial tires wrapped around rally wheels. Dont miss your chance to own Americas original "Muscle Car", for more information please call 813-645-6200. For more HD pictures and video visit GatewayClassicCars.com
