 Vehicle Description
Ford created the "personal luxury car" niche when it introduced the Thunderbird in 1955. Positioned against the brand new Corvette, the T-Bird placed a greater emphasis on style, luxury and comfort -- but performance was certainly admirable. Originally a two-seater roadster, by the mid-1960s the Thunderbird had developed into a two-door hardtop with additional cove seating in the rear (although the convertible was still a rare option).

This 1964 T-Bird is a very original, very correct, and very well-documented survivor. It has been repainted once in its original Arcadian Blue with a Wimbledon White top, and the paint shows well. Panels are nice and straight with good gaps; chrome, hubcaps, glass are in very good condition.

The interior is all original, and definitely retains its mid-1960s luxe ambiance. From the machined metal dash components to the electroluminescent gauges, the interiors of these vintage T-Birds are well-crafted, feel substantial and simply exude style. The original leather upholstery is showing some wear, but is fully intact with no tears (just cracks). The dash is in good shape cosmetically, and everything works except for the fuel gauge and the clock.

The list of options on this car is a mile long, and includes power steering, power brakes, factory air (not working, but hey at least it's there) and the T-Bird's characteristic swing-away steering wheel. All 1964s shipped with Ford's FE block 390 cubic inch V8 mated to a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission.

This example includes a huge file of documentation, including the original window sticker and sales invoice when the car was sold new in Columbus, Georgia.

This T-Bird would make a great driver, and is definitely presentable enough to be enjoyed as is. Or it could be a super solid candidate for full restoration. Either way, give us a call at 404-692-5250 to learn more.
