The Packard Twelfth Series was a bold step forward towards elegantly streamlined body contours of cars in the years to come. By 1935 Packard found itself fighting an uphill battle in the fiercly competitve luxury automobile marketplace. Brands like Cadillac and Lincoln that were previously consigned beneath Packards commanding status as a fine auto maker were now chipping away at Packards market share. Packard persisted with building the best car that money could buy. The Twelfth series was a defiant step forward in power, design and value with no compromises. One of the models that best exhibits these qualities is Packards quot;Darling of the Gateway to Luxury quot;: The Model 819 Standard Coupe Roadster.
