 Vehicle Description
Some of the most thrilling races of all time were the early Trans-Am bouts between Ford and Chevy, and perhaps the most memorable machines were the Sunoco Camaors campaigned by Penske-Godsall Racing. Theres too much story to tell here, but this 1967 Camaro race car was built in 1990 as a tribute to those gladiators of the early Trans-Am series but has never raced. However, the specifications are impressive, and this car will make a formidable and popular vintage racer that will be welcome at almost any event. Unlike the Penske cars, this one hasnt been acid dipped to shave pounds, however it does carry a number of lightweight body panels including the hood, doors, and fenders. The finish on the car is a correct shade of Sunoco blue with gold lettering, and the condition is race car perfect-not too nice, but not beaten to death, either. It definitely looks the part. Lightweight glass, shaved bumpers, and all the other race tricks have been used to make this a car thats as quick as it is historic. The interior is pure competition, with a single seat, a full cage, and sheet metal panels throughout. Forget creature comforts, this car was built only to win, and the tools you need are all right at hand. The lightweight racing seat offers a 5-point harness, the gauges are arrayed according to importance, and the controls are simple and direct. Update your safety gear and this one is ready for the track. The important stuff is all under the skin. The engine is a 4-bolt 350 that makes 650 horsepower thanks to things like Brodix aluminum heads, a Torker intake, a steel crank, Jessel valve train, and a Barry Grant carburetor. For competition use, it also features dry sump oiling, a fuel cell, drive shaft loops and a side exit exhaust system that gives you the full race car experience in full surround sound. The transmission is a Muncie 4-speed driving a Ford 9-inch rear, making this car a durable competitor. Coil over shocks up front and fiberglass leaf springs out back combine with 4-wheel disc brakes to make this vintage machine run like a much younger car. A set of Ultralight wheels wear Goodyear racing slicks, and theres just no pretext that this is a street car. Track use only. Any muscle car fan will get excited when he sees this cool tribute racer. Trans-Am delivered some of the best racing ever, and this car is built to replicate the experience. It should be fast, reliable, and safe, but make no mistake, this is a race car and it will require someone with genuine skills to get the most out of it. It is sold on bill of sale only, there is no title, which means theres no going back to the street for this Camaro. Theres just so much to this car we cant possibly cover it all here, so please give us a call to learn all the details. This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
