Information and background :
1980 Harry Shay's The Model A and Model T Motor Car Reproduction Corporation was licensed by
Ford Motor Co to fabricate a replica in fiberglass (except for a four (4) piece metal hood, metal bracing,
chromed front and back bumpers and aluminum running boards, and spare tire bracket on the deck lid)
of the body of the original 1929 Model A Roadster. The Shay Model A used a 1980 Pinto frame, chassis, suspension
and power train and sold these cars through Ford dealerships across the country. The Shay weighs 1850 lbs compared with the 2000
to 2500 lbs original Model As. Powered by a lightweight cast iron four cylinder single overhead camshaft 2.3 L/140 CID 88 hp engine
it is a great improvement over the original 200 CID 40 hp original power plant. The 4-speed manual transmission is sound. The Shay was also equipped with hydraulic brakes, disc-brakes on the front wheels, seat belts in the passenger compartment and rumble seats that make the car
safer. AN ayeoogah horn bringS both the comforts of the 80s into the nostalgia of the 20s, The steering wheel is rack-and-pinion and responsive.
THESE REPLICA'S WERE SOLD BY FORD DEALERS NATIONWIDE
AND CAN BE SERVICED BY ANY FORD AGENCY. THIS CAR
is remarkably well kept, is in GREAT condition and turns the heads of fellow motorists and onlookers. It starts
and purrs like a kitten, and haS ALWAYS BEEN garaged. I have driven the car APPROXIMATELY 200 miles
( TOTAL MILES: 14200 since buying it, but never in inclement weather to keep the underside clean. I would keep the car
if the passenger compartment was larger. I weigh 225 and both clutch and brake foot pedals are too little for my feet to fit comfortably.
The Shay's wheelbase is 103.5 inches and its track is 56 inches just like the original model. The tires are in EXCELLENT shape and the
rim diameters are 18 inches. Tire size is 5.50 x 18 and I'm informed they are readily available. I do not smoke.
Car is sold "as is" and "where is" without warranties, express or implied, including, without limitation,
warranties of merchantability, fitness and description.
