This is a "True Barn Find" parked in 1974 with 46,000 miles showing * As the story goes, the Cobra was used by the selling dealership as a drag car from purchase until late 1971(confirmed by the Marti Report is the late 1971 sale date)
I purchased the Cobra from the son of the first registered owner, who's father was a mechanic at the selling dealership(Peekskill Ford) & was reported the hot-shoe who raced it during it's drag car years * A spin number #8 rod bearing sidelined the Cobra in 1974 * The engine/tranny was pulled out & that's just how I found it 34 years later in 2007.
Over the next 5 years I collected parts for the intended restoration * I have "2" rust free fenders, "2" rust free doors, rust free trunk lid & a spare rust free Shaker hood - all of which have been media blasted & epoxy primed * I also have "2" laser straight "full" OE quarter panels - media blasted & primed * I have a "full" rust free floor pan - media blasted & primed. Plus other misc body pieces / everything needed to do a concourse style restoration.
The 429 engine has been professionally rebuilt(confirmed the #8 rod bearing was indeed spin) / the original 4-speed was also gone through & comes with a new clutch.
