 Vehicle Description
If you make a list of "sexy" muscle cars, the Charger is far and away one of very the top contenders. There are many muscle cars out there that might run like the wind, but Chargers have the curves and lines to make people swoon. This car here is a factory R/T, but the 440 mill was yanked in favor of a brand new Mopar crate Hemi...its got more than enough "go" to match its "show!" With only 1400 miles on the restoration, this one has just barely been broken in. The orange paint (a strong upgrade from the factory dark green) looks great from any distance, and its easy to see the hours and hours of block sanding, buffing and polishing that was put in to get the car to this level. The trim and stainless shine like they would have new, both bumpers have been rechromed, and the grille is fully detailed (one of the best looking designs from the area - so you know it needs to be done right). Its clear the builders took this one very seriously, as the final product is something that could compete at just about any show you wanted to drive (or haul) her to. Panel gaps are consistent with what came from the factory, a new vinyl top covers the roof and gives it a distinguished look. New badging, factory hood turn signals and a new mirror round out a very businesslike exterior. Inside, just about everything you can touch is new: carpeting, the headliner, seat covers, woodgrain wheel, door panels, upper door pads-you name it. New gauge bezels surround refreshed gauges and the factory tic-toc-tach. Tunes are provided by the original AM/8-track stereo. All semblances of the factory A/C system were banished to complete the Hemi changeover, and a new center console and top plates make room for the big Hurst shifter to poke through. Open the trunk to find an original Charger jack, a new trunk mat, and a matching spare with a matching redline tire. While a 440 Magnum is nothing to sneeze at, a 426 Hemi just screams POWER. Its a new crate engine, freshly installed during the restoration. Its dressed properly, and no corners were cut: New parts take three full pages to list and even the original A/C firewall was replaced for authenticity. The crate engines intake was replaced with a genuine dual quad piece holding a pair of Carter carbs. Reproduction heater hoses run the coolant while electricity is routed from the reproduction battery through all new wiring. Factory power steering remains, and an SSBC front disk brake kit bolts to a proper disc brake booster. All of the little pieces which separate a simple swap from a complete changeover are here, from the reproduction throttle cable to the big dollar battery cables to the proper fan clutch to the reproduction coil and bracket. Moving underneath, theres a brand new clutch and flywheel inside the SFI certified bellhousing bolted to the rebuilt, proper 18-spline 4-speed transmission. A new driveshaft transmits power to the Strange Dana 60 rear axle with 3.54 gears. New shocks are at all four corners, and fresh brake lines and Hemi-only 3/8" fuel lines are in place. The correct Hemi torque box reinforcements are welded into place-if you didnt see the VIN youd absolutely call this a factory Hemi car. Four new 15x7 steel wheels with F70-15 Firestone redlines and dog dish hubcaps are big, shiny exclamation points on a restoration well done. Bright orange, beautiful, powerful, newly rebuilt and stick shift equipped-if this doesnt get your blood pumping it might be time to see your doctor. Otherwise, pick up the phone and make this Charger yours! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom. For more information, please call (678) 279-1609 or toll free (877) 367-1835.
