SVT adds goodies like custom white-faced gauges, drilled aluminum pedals, and a special shifter for the exclusive 6-speed manual transmission, so this is more than just a badged-up Mustang. While early complaints from Cobra owners focused on their cars not being different enough from a garden-variety pony, thats certainly not the case with this 2004 model. With a blower atop the 32-valve V8, it bellows out 390 horsepower and an equal amount of torque. Its channeled through the aforementioned 6-speed gearbox to a completely unique rear end that combines an 8.8-inch center section with a bespoke independent rear suspension that was unique to this model and never used again. Massive brakes were part of the Cobra package from Day One, and this one benefits from things like ABS, so performance is impressive. The exhaust sounds like ripping silk with an ever-so-subtle supercharger hum, so youll relish running through the gears for the sound as much as for the performance. Flashy 17-inch chrome alloys finish the package and wear the original 275/40/17 Goodyear radials.
