1965 Mustang GT Coupe Project Car
In the early '90s, Chuck picked up a unique 65 Mustang GT from a retiring Air Force officer. The car had been sitting for a few years, but still ran even with the rust. This vehicle was driven with plywood floors to cover the rust holes, until about '97 when the engine froze up. Unfortunately, the vehicle again sat until '01 when Chuck moved. As Chuck started the restoration process, he found that the rust was too much, so he salvaged what he could. Finding a donor vehicle, the ole GT went to scrap and the numbers lived in the new donor after an apron switch. VIN: 5T07A164xxx. The 1968 302 V8 was rebuilt in 1996 by Cannon's in Delaware, blueprinted with a Completion cam 280-480, Edelbrock performer 289 intake manifold, a Holley 4160 600cfm carb, headers, aluminum Ford heads (F8ZM) and dual exhaust. The 1973 automatic transmission was rebuilt in late 2004 by Chesapeake Transmission with an 8-cylinder performance kit. Chuck recently installed a Hurst shifter. Driveshaft balanced by Accubilt and an 8" 1965 Ford rear end rebuilt around 1996 as a 355 locker by Drive Train Specialists. This car also has a new steel radiator and a Monte Carlo bar. The original front bench seat has been reupholstered, and Chuck has the upholstery for the rear seats. Rear lights and driver's door are new. Cowl vents and floor pans have been replaced, and Chuck has replaced or repaired all the pans and frame where needed. The car was driven again for a few years as the car was taking shape. When Chuck was putting in new floor pans, he found that additional work was needed. So, he installed new quarters, some inner wheel wells, part of the frame, and both cowls over a good period of time. Which brings us to today, with the engine and tranny removed and almost completely stripped except for rear end, and the rear three pieces of glass. Not all of the required new parts have been purchased, but there is a thousand or two invested to include aluminum GT heads for the 302.
1965 Mustang Coupe Donor Car or Project Car
This vehicle was purchased as a parts vehicle. VIN: 5F07T63xxxx. It had been rear ended. It has a rebuilt 289 V8 from Thunderbolt Engines & Transmissions, with an Edelbrock Performer 289 intake manifold with Edelbrock 750 cfm 4v carb. Holley headers with dual Flowmaster exhaust. T-5 transmission (F4ZR-7003-AC) with Hurst shift kit, conversion kit and drive shaft. Rebuilt Ford 8.8" rear end with drum brakes. New gas tank with sending unit and radiator. New clutch and linkage. 18" Cragar 5-spoke rims with Riken Raptor tires. This car also has racing seats with 4-point harnesses. The previous owner thinks the rails are bent, but Chuck hasn't fully disassembled the car yet, so he can't be sure; but the floorpans and frame look OK, and a lot of body work needs to be done. Chuck is including tons of new parts with this deal, including a white headliner, weatherstrip kit, engine paint system kit, hood chrome trim, heater core, all-aluminum radiator, oil pan, and more. As the pictures indicate, the rear end and quarter are buckled, but looks like frame might be intact. Both vehicles are state titled; the GT to Chuck with the donor Mustang still titled to the person Chuck bought from and is signed off. Neither vehicles are drivable at this time. Chuck is selling both of these cars together, not separately. Two cars, one deal.
