Finish this project the way you want. Why start with a major project? This 5th Generation El Camino rolling body is the start of a great build. It was being cyloned into the 84-87 El Camino Special Edition Choo-choo which carried the aerodynamic front end of its sister car the Monte Carlo SS. Which many GM hobbyists pursue. Some people has commented that the front end on this car is from a Camaro??? You deciede.
This is the way I purchased the car don’t know any of the past history of the car.
The car had a 350 engine in it before I got the car, which has been removed and not with the car.
A carburated 4.3 V6 and a Trans would come with the purchase of the car if buyer wanted them. Condition Unknown
The drivetrain includes drive shaft and rear end.
The engine compartment has been gutted along with the wheel wells which are in the bed. Some components are still intact such as p/s pump, master cylinder/booster, steering gearbox.
The interior as follows bench seat, no carpet, door panels, solid floor there is a rust issue on the inside under the bed area on the right rear which you can see in the pic, the dash padding is cracked from the hot sunny days, radio is gone, the head liner is falling down and faded but can be recovered along with both sun visors, some misc interior panels and trim pieces maybe missing.
Factory options which may not be all their anymore A/C, cruise control, tilt wheel, crank up windows, power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes.
The underside of the car has been painted black. The suspension appears to have new shocks on all 4 corners. There is a gas tank in the bed which doesn’t look that old. As far as any major rust issues there isn’t any except the area you see in the pics which really don’t look that bad.
The body has been prepped but does have spots that you would have to give more attention to like right door, the driver’s door has been patched in the lower left corner but may not be up to your satisfaction. The hood has a tear drop raised scoop. The bed contains the side rocker ground effects for the Choo-Choo package front wheel wells, headlight assemblies, and other miscellaneous pieces.
