 Vehicle Description
Make no mistake, Cadillac not only understood the concept of First Class in the 50s, but they were the worlds finest purveyor of it. This stunning 3-owner 1958 Series 75-23 Fleetwood should tell you all you need to know about what the 1% was doing with their money in the late 1950s. Spectacular in every possible way, its over-the-top luxury and style from an era when America could do no wrong, and this one comes with a 1st class pedigree to boot. Did we mention its only one of 30 still in existence according to the Cadillac Owner Association? This lovely 9-passenger Blackplate California Cadillac wears a correct coat of Medium-Dark Gray, and the finish is spectacular, as it should be for a car that cost as much as the average familys house in 1958. The car is highly original, and everything underneath is original which speaks volumes about how well-maintained it always has been. In fact, with this car, youll really just have to take a look for yourself to decide whats original and whats been replaced - the owner has done such a spectacular job of blending that line its really quite hard to say. Cadillacs were often for the famous, and with this one, the car in question literally is - all in its own right. Featured in the 1987 film Kaleidoscope, based on the novel by Danielle Steele, this one has been seen around the world. In fact, it was later featured in many of the Cadillac commercials from a few years ago where they reinvented themselves to the younger market by introducing the Cadillac XLR. If you recall a beautiful 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood flashing across the screen, then youve already seen this car. Although we cant prove the mileage to be actual, we encourage you to come take this one for a spin and you can decide for yourself. To say this car is special would be quite the understatement. Youd expect to be coddled inside, but this car is appointed like an executive office suite with full luxury conveniences that 1950s technology could provide. The handsome interior is almost entirely original save for the carpets and the front seats lower cushion, which has been expertly reupholstered to match the rest. Powerful front and rear A/C, power windows, and a signal-seeking radio were mandatory then the way satellite radio and GPS are today, and with two jump seats behind the driver, theres room for nine inside, with nobody complaining about accommodations. The driver has perhaps the best seat in the house, facing a spectacular instrument panel full of shiny stainless and crisply rendered instruments. The steering wheel almost feels too delicate for such a massive machine, and you can guide the big limo with just your fingertips. Theres also a massive trunk, but well let your driver worry about that. If you wanted horsepower in 1958, you shopped at the Cadillac store. With a 365 cubic inch V8 making 310 horsepower, this Fleetwood is surprisingly swift, built for effortless power and torque under any condition. The engine hums with a muscular sound that you feel in your chest as much as hear with your ears, and the silky transmission changes gears almost imperceptibly. The suspension is soft, no doubt about that, but isnt that the whole point? The engine bay is spotless and nicely tended, but not restored, as is the chassis which shows no rust or damage, as well as a frame that would be at home under a railroad car. BFGoodrich Silvertown wide whitewall radials have been fitted to the original wheels, so it handles even better than new. With slightly over 800 built and 30 remaining, this is a very rare, and very special car. Well documented and impressively maintained, this famous Fleetwood is perhaps the most luxurious piece of sheetmetal weve ever offered. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
