 Vehicle Description
Not many late-model cars have a popular following like Buicks Reatta. With two seats, a sporty look that definitely attracts attention, and an entertaining and downright bulletproof powertrain, these are great cars, not just great hobby cars. You dont see many black Reattas, but it seems to emphasize the bullet shape of the car and ties it all together far better than the lighter colors seem to. With one repaint, this one looks fantastic thanks to the ministrations of an enthusiastic owner who has apparently always treated it as something special. Theres no way the factory could match this black finish, and its likely that if you take this one to one of the many Reatta gatherings at Buick shows, itll stand out in a big way. Add a subtle red pinstripe that matches the interior, and you have a classic, handsome combination that will never be out of style. Add in a set of tinted windows, and this one looks downright sinister, prompting people to ask what it is everywhere you go. Youll also note that this Reatta is completely rust-free, has never been hit or wrecked, and fits together with the precision that the Lansing Craft Centre was famous for. These were halo cars, largely hand-assembled, and the extra attention to detail shows. The burgundy leather interior is 100% original and has light wear that is appropriate to the mileage. There are no splits or tears in the leather and the surfaces are smooth and supple with no sun damage. Door panels, console, dash and other soft parts are excellent with only very slight wear to the carpets. GMs fascination with digital dashboards seems entirely appropriate in the forward-looking Reatta, and the CRT-based interface was big news in 1989. The powerful factory stereo system is operational, as is the power antenna on the rear deck, and the optional 16-way power drivers seat, as well as the power windows and locks, all work properly. The trunk and rear compartment are as-new and virtually unmarked. Buicks famous 3.8 liter V6 engine is rated at 170 horsepower in this application. One of Buicks most durable and well-developed engines, the 3.8 is torquey, efficient, and reliable, needing little more than regular oil changes to enjoy a long, happy life. The engine in this starts instantly, idles easily, and drives as it should, with a sporty growl from the exhaust. The 4-speed automatic transmission shifts properly and the CV joints are undamaged and silent. All decals and factory markings are intact, and there are few signs of age or corrosion on any of the bare metal components. Flashy chrome Eagle alloys have been fitted and wear 215/65/15 Dayton radials, but the original wheels are included with the car, safely tucked into boxes, just in case you want to take it back to 100% stock condition. These are great hobby cars, with awesome enthusiast support and good parts availability, and when they look this good, youll wonder why the market hasnt caught on yet. Call today!
