Stk. 1813 1964 Ford Galaxie Convertible
Ford first introduced the Galaxie nameplate in 1959, creating a model that would span four generations and fifteen years. 1964 was the last year for the second generation body style before a complete makeover would occur in 1965.The 1964 Galaxie had a more sculpted look which was actually designed to make the car more aerodynamic for NASCAR. The formal-roof "box top" style was replaced by a slanted-roof design for all non-wagon or convertible models, including sedans. Considerably fewer convertibles were made than their sedan counterparts; so this Galaxie is truly a great find for any Blue Oval aficionado looking for a great drop-top. Drenched in a lustrous deep coat of Burgundy eleven years ago, this paint scheme really accentuates the beautiful lines of this body style and still looks fresh. Nestled under the hood is a detailed and snappy little 302 V8 dressed out with period style Cobra valve covers, an aluminum Holley Street Dominator intake and Edelbrock four-barrel carb on top that sounds as mellow as it looks lovely. This mill is linked to a crisp shifting, C4 three-speed automatic transmission that distributes the flow of power to a tried and true stock 9" rear end. Being somewhat of a hybrid on the inside its interior is a blend of original 1964 dashboard and door panels blended with Ford Explorer Limited vinyl bucket seats, console and wheels. The end result is an environment that will provide a substantial increase in comfort for the long haul or the short hop. Throw in aftermarket air condition, power steering, power brakes, and a white power-operated convertible top and you have the makings of a one great classic ride. As you might imagine the trunk is cavernous; and reflects that era of when people were more inclined to drive to their vacation destination rather than fly. This rust free undercarriage has been nicely detailed, just in case your buddy at your local car show decides to drop to the ground for some undercarriage recon. All in all if you desire a classic, reliable convertible that will pay large dividends in the smiles per mile column; then we have your car.
