| Its going to be tough to top this 1968 Camaro RS convertible. From the matching-numbers 327 to the brand-new Matador Red paint job, this sizzling ragtop is the kind of car that makes grown men weak in the knees when they see it rumbling past. Its rare to find a no-stories Camaro these days, what with all the botched restorations, cobbled-together basket cases, and resto-mods running around, but this one is just what it appears to be. This one is just a clean, honest Camaro convertible. All the indicators are there that this is a real RS, although theres no way to be certain given the vagaries of the GM cowl tags in 1968. Although it was originally Rallye Green, this one sports a fresh coat of two-stage urethane in brilliant Matador Red, a hue so bright it will make your eyes hurt if you look at it too long. Workmanship is excellent, with great gaps all around and no signs of any rust in this cars history. Yes, its just as nice as it looks in photos. Maybe even nicer. Sometimes red-on-red just doesnt work, but in this case its a slam-dunk. With seats from a 70s Camaro, it still has an OEM look and feel, but theres a distinct twist in the slightly bolstered buckets that will make folks at car shows do a double-take. The upholstery is a spot-on match to the paint, and even the red carpets and matching center console have a very uniform look. The gauges are crisp and clear, and its nice to see a Camaro without a lot of add-ons inside. The brand-new wood-rimmed wheel is in great shape, the horseshoe shifter is always cool, and theres A/C to boot. A newer AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit has been fitted, and theres new weatherstripping throughout, so this is likely one of the tightest, quietest, most rattle-free Camaros youre ever going to experience. The white power top fits well and isnt very old, and the car includes a matching red boot. The engine is this cars original, numbers-matching 327 cubic inch V8, which, with 210 horsepower, was plenty entertaining in purely stock form. But just for good measure, this one sports an Edelbrock manifold, a Holley 4-barrel, and an HEI ignition system to really light the fires. Neatly detailed in Chevy Orange with Z/28-style finned valve covers, its the kind of engine bay youll invite your buddies over to look at. Ceramic-coated long-tube headers and a fresh dual exhaust system were just installed, and while youre under there, check out the spotless original floors. A TH350 3-speed automatic and a set of 3.08 gears in the 10-bolt out back make this a relaxed cruiser on the highway, where you can enjoy the burble of the V8 and still get reasonably good gas mileage. Classic chrome Torque Thrust wheels shouldve been original equipment on the Camaro, and wear 205/65/15 Michelin radials. So if a clean, honest, searing red Camaro has been on your wish list, we can recommend this one with confidence. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
