| This Torch red exterior with red/white interior is Serial #34. #34 was the 31st T-Bird sold to the public. The first five were pre-production, Seiral 001, 002, and 003 were destroyed and 004 and 005 were later sold. 034 was scheduled to be built as 016 on Spetember 10, 1954, the 2nd day of production as noted by its Data Plate. The first group of four T-Birds were painted black. The second group of seventeen T-Birds were painted blue. The third group of ten T-Birds were painted red. this adds to the speculation this T-Bird 034 was built as number 10 on the 2nd day of production and painted red on 20 September 1954 the 8th day of production. This T-Bird features the original 292cid/198hp engine, 3-speed standard transmission with overdrive and white soft top only. Special early features include: softop dold-downs with one set of holes, emblem on the ashtray, exhaust donuts, master cylinder dip tray and very early cast valve covers. Master Guide power steering, Swift Sure power brakes, 4-way power seats, power-lift windows and engine dress-up kit chrome. 6-volt electrical system. This T-Bird was the first one in the state of Washington and the first one sold. |
