This is a one of a kind (Marti report available) 1968 4 door Torino. It was inspected at the American Fairlane Association annual car show and the three judges with over 100 years experience between them had never seen a Torino like this one. Sadly, they did discover the drivers side rear quarter panel had been painted about 25 years ago and hence it did not win gold.

The Torino was the top of the line Fairlane in 1968 and should have had the standard 302 engine with automatic transmission. In fact this vehicle came from the factory (I have the original factory build sheet along with window sticker and original Bill of Sale) with a 289 3 on the tree manual transmission. The AFA judges believe this may have happened due to the Ford engine strike in 1968.

You will also notice this vehicle has 3 levels of trim. The Fairlane, being the intermediate Ford vehicle was only supposed to have 2 levels of trim. The AFA judges speculated that the reason this had 3 levels, like the larger Galaxie, was due to the manufacturer trying to make up for the lack of the 302 engines.
