DESCRIPTION
Up for sale ($2700 ) is a replica of a 1930s era midget racer.
The plywood, fiberglass and aluminum body sits on a .083 thick, 1 x 3 rectangular steel tubing frame.
The front axle is built from 1 in diameter steel tubing, the rear axle, brake caliper / rotor, sprocket and hubs are all go cart style parts.
It rolls on 3.50 x 10 front wheels and 4.80 x 12 rear wheels.
Steering is also go cart style with a removable steering wheel for ease of entry and exit of the drivers cockpit.
The #53 Fire Chief Special is powered by a 6.5 HP 212cc gas pull start engine putting the power to the rear axle via a comet type torque converter. With gearing at 10 60 its capable of speeds near 45mph with no engine modification.
Braking is via a left hand operated disc brake.
This midget racer is very exciting to drive and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face as you climb into the cockpit and just may make your cheeks tighten as you near top speed.
Get your friends to build one and have some local races, I think it beats lawn mower racing but thats just me.
The midget comes with a real midget tail section that I have yet to fit to the rear of the frame.
I am selling the Fire Chief Special because of a recent knee injury that makes it extremely difficult getting in and out of the drivers cockpit.
Your organization could have a raffle to raise funds for your group, your favorite charity or a scholarship fund, run it for a year showing the midget at the local community events and watch the funds build.
