 Vehicle Description
Prepare to meet the street racers worst nightmare. This 1973 Plymouth Cuda may look unassuming on the outside, but underneath it was built to do only one thing: blow the doors off of lesser cars. With a stout 440, a suspension designed to plant the power, and a gorgeous but low-profile paint job, its going to surprise a lot of guys who think they own fast cars. OK, so its a mistake to under-estimate any Cuda, but this orange hardtop doesnt do a lot of advertising. No big hockey-stick graphics on the quarters, no telltale Hemi badge, nothing that will give it away. Instead, it does its talking with straight sheetmetal that has been properly prepped and finished, made all the more beautiful by the subtle yellow pinstripe that runs the length of the body. The original hood was even spared a blacked-out stripe, although those twin nostrils certainly imply horsepower. The simple front grille emphasizes the performance intentions, while chrome bumpers add a bit of old-school glitz to the otherwise monochromatic Fish. Inside, the unassuming, "Im just a stock Cuda" look continues, but this one has quite a few tricks up its sleeve. Sure, the high-back buckets are nicely restored in the original materials and patterns, the back seat looks completely unused and factory-fresh, and things like new carpets and a fresh headliner contribute to the trailer queen look, which is entirely the point. But then you notice a few extra gauges, ranging from a VDO tach on the column to some discreetly mounted auxiliary units, as well as the custom electrical switch panel to the left of the instruments. The original pistol-grip shifter has given way to a custom trigger unit complete with integrated line lock, which is the most notable modification to the interior. In the trunk youll find a battery box as well as a neatly laid out fuel system thats easy to access and service, clear indications that there is something else afoot under the hood. And that something else would be a built 440 cubic inch big block designed to pulverize lesser cars. Even with an Edelbrock 4-barrel, it looks stock enough, but it would be a mistake to think that it hasnt been masterfully tuned. Theres Hemi Orange paint on the block, but there are also plenty of upgrades throughout, including billet accessory drive brackets, an MSD ignition system, and Cool-Flex hoses for the coolant. A built 727 TorqueFlite transmission with a reverse valve body and 2500 RPM stall converter helps it leave the line with authority, and a set of 3.73s are a great choice for an engine with this much torque. Weld wheels have been fitted, giving it a traditional drag-race look, and 235/60/15 drag radials help it hook up. Set up to take no prisoners, this street/strip Cuda is the kind of civilized speed that always catches people by surprise. Durable, powerful, and nicely finished, its a great all-around performer that looks great and runs right. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
