 Vehicle Description
The Sunbeam Tiger may be known best for its role in "Get Smart" but even the gadget masters at CONTROL couldnt create anything like this killer 1967 convertible. Completed in 2007, this fully re-engineered Tiger tribute has the kind of presence that can draw a crowd in minutes. Appeal starts on the outside where a coat of Torch Red mixes with Super Sport-style stripes finished in a silver borrowed from the BMW paint charts. Below, crisp lines pair with deleted bumpers, HID headlights, and a custom hood for a one-of-a-kind look. Under that hood, a 427 stroker puts down 449 rwhp with some help from the team at Paul Anthony Race Engines. From the high-quality hardware inside to the Electromotive fuel injection and coil-pack ignition system, absolutely no expense was spared in creating the nastiest N/A Ford motor possible. Behind the 427, a Tremec T56 prepared by Rockland Standard Gear offers authoritative shifts before spinning power to a narrowed Ford 9-inch with a Detroit Locker and 3.50 gears. The foundation is a custom 2x3 tube chassis with a Mustang II front and ladder bar rear supported by Aldan coilovers all around. Quick steering is provided by a manual rack and pinion setup while massive Wilwood brakes bring the stopping power. At the corners, 17-inch 8-spoke wheels from Vintage Wheel Works finish the look with style. As you might expect, the interior is compact and all business with bucket seats, a 5-point roll cage, Simpson harnesses and Auto Meter gauges.
