DESCRIPTION
1978 Chevrolet El Camino SS
Taken off the road in 1994, has been in a dry garage since.
Factory 5.7L 4-bbl carb and 4-speed transmission. The original engine was taken out for another project.
The Frame: The body was taken off the frame, the frame cleaned up (no damaged areas), the suspension and brakes were completely disassembled and rebuilt, and the factory rear end was replaced with a 12-bolt GM posi-traction rear end from a 1970 Monte Carlo.
The Body: The floors had minimal rust which was removed, and steel patch panels welded in. The body has some rust drivers door bottom and drivers rear wheel arch and passenger lower panel in front of the rear wheel arch. There are also dents in the passengers rear quarter panel behind the rear wheel arch. I have a new door skin for the drivers door.
The Interior: Bucket seats need to be recovered, new carpet is included but not installed, new dash cover is included but not installed, door panels are in good condition, headliner is in good condition.
The Engine: 5.7 L 350 CID engine came from a 1972 C20, was rebuilt. Bored 0.030, mild cam, aluminum intake, Holley carb. Runs smooth, maybe 500 miles since rebuild in 1997.
The Transmission: This car is a factory 4-speed. The original transmission and shifter were replaced with a Muncie. In 2004 the Muncie and shifter were removed and a TH350 automatic and B&M shifter were installed. Except for the transmission and shifter, all the parts remain to convert back to a 4-speed transmission.
It runs and drives. The tires are worn, but hold air.
Clear title.
