The console is original and features the SS-exclusive engine-turned trim that matches the dashboard, and theres also an original column-mounted tachometer. This car also comes equipped with a clock and an AM radio with rear speaker. And yes, there are three pedals with a shifter that controls an original 4-speed manual, which is the only way to travel in one of these vintage SS sport coupes. The engine is Chevys top moneymaker in 1964, a dual-quad 409. Rated at 425 horsepower by the factory, it was a legitimate threat on the street and virtually unbeatable at the track. With its distinctive arched valve covers and chrome air cleaner, it shows quite well, and the contrasting Chevy Orange paint looks great against the satin black engine bay. Underneath, the chassis is amazingly solid and original. Floors are in excellent condition with no rust or structural issues, again suggesting that this car has always lived in a dry part of the country. Brakes and suspension have been maintained to factory specs, and a recent set of mufflers gives the 409 a deep, powerful voice. Recent 215/75/14 wide whites on original wheels with spinner hubcaps look great, giving it the look of a vintage custom.
