| Vehicle Description |
Up for sale is my 1966 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. I have decided to let someone else enjoy her for a while; I only drove her twice this year. She deserves more than that. I would get in this car and drive it cross-country. I drove it from Ohio to the Pontiac Convention in Sturbridge Mass, Pontiac Convention in Buffalo N.Y. And at least 5 trips to Ontario Canada.
This car is a re-creation of one of the rarest Bonneville Convertibles ever built, if you happened to get the opportunity to order one. It would have had to be a copo (Central Purchasing) car to get a 421 HO 4 speed with Air. I was told that two have been known to be built for GM Execs. Nobody knows thw where abouts of them. This car was meant to be the Big Brother of the World Famous GTO.
I purchased this car in the early 90’s out of a garage close to my home had it re-painted in it’s original Montero Red paint (Base coat clear coat) car was block sanded by two guys for FORTY HOURS. At this point, I decided to build the car I’ve only dreamed about. Car left the factory as a 389 2 bbl automatic column shift with Air conditioning, am radio with deluxe wheel covers And today it is
1. A 421 cu in H.O. with tri-power (376 hp. Correct dated coded motor for 66).
2. 4 Speed date coded transmission with Hurst shifter and factory console
3. Factory Gauge package (Oil pressure and Temp guage in speedometer cluster)
4. Factory Tachometer
5. Factory Vacuum Gauge
6. Factory am-fm reverb radio
7. Factory Air Conditioning
8. Factory tilt wheel
9. Factory Bucket seats
10. 4 way factory flasher system
11. 5 Factory eight lug wheels with new trim rings
12. Factory reel out hood light.
13. Factory vacuum power trunk
14. Factory rear quarter power antenna
15. Real walnut wood trim replaced on dash and console.
During the restoration, I had the floor metal replaced due to the car sitting for almost 20 years. replaced the rear seat tray (over the rear end) but did not take the car off the frame so metal was replaced, but we left the original metal on the underside.. To acquire most of the needed parts, I purchased a complete 1966 Pontiac 2+2 with a factory 4 speed to do the conversion out of a barn. Car is factory correct
Today it would be impossible to locate a factory 421 H.O. ,with the original heads and Long branch cast iron headers without paying a fortune. To build this car today would cost two or three times what I’m asking. The motor was completely rebuilt by a true Pontiac Mechanic using all factory GM parts, tri-power was rebuilt, transmission was rebuilt, all welds and frame tabs for the 4 speed have been placed in the original factory locations. This was all done in the 90's
I have taken this car to many Pontiac events and the judges can’t even tell it was an automatic car. This car has been invited and participated in two Glenwood Gathering of Significant Automobiles Concours D'Elegance in Canton, Ohio The convertible top was replaced with new glass window, complete body rubber kit. Eight lug wheels were relined by Roger Reale of Custom Circuits. Interior was recovered in white with black accents (carpeting dash etc.) Bumpers and trim were re-chromed Speedometer shows 54 thousand miles but true mileage is unknown. Always stored in a heated garage on a lift. If you are interested in this car, I would suggest you to come see it. I tried to describe the car as best as I could, but I would never buy a car on Ebay unless I went to see it or at least send a friend or independent appraiser. I am located between Cleveland and Akron Ohio in Hudson 44236. A $500.00 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit thru PAYPAL is required at the time of sale. Balance to be paid in cash or certified checks US FUNDS ONLY drawn on an American Bank witch can be verified. You are welcome to come and see, look it over and decide for yourself. Car is for sale locally
Dash pad was replaced five years ago sent it to Just Dashes it's Perfect!!! also replaced the windshield due to scratches Car is equipped with factory soft ray tinted glass
Below is a link with a few pictures of the bottom and the trunk. Today is the first time I have lifted the trunk mat in over 14 years since I put it together and there is some surface rust from moisture from the rubber mat but it is solid. Car was stored the first 3 years after the restoration in a non heated building, Car will come with the posi rear end that was taken out of the 2+2. Sitting in my garage on milk crates I never installed it. it's been sandblasted, painted, new stainless brake lines and wheel cylinders ready to bolt in. http://h1.ripway.com/bdubar/pontiac/index.html |
