 Vehicle Description
E-bodies dont get much cooler than this 1973 Dodge Challenger. If youre more into driving and enjoying your Mopar muscle than debating the finer points of matching-numbers, this 440-powered Challenger is for you. Finished in what appears to be traditional Petty Blue, this Challenger breaks a lot of rules, but its so cool you simply wont care. The Challengers shape is one of the most popular muscle car profiles in history (its no secret why the Hemis cost what they do), and by building on a later model, you can create something truly special with the same fantastic look. This was obviously a very straight car to begin with, and the guys who built it went the extra mile to ensure that the sheetmetal was straight, the gaps were tight, and the look was just right. Then the bright blue paint went on, and if youre a Mopar fan, you know how special this color really is. Set off by a set of black stripes and a blackout hood treatment, this muscular Challenger is pulling no punches. Other neat details include the later E-body front and rear fascias that give it a different look and just enough brightly polished trim to make it sparkle. How else to finish a Petty Blue Challenger than with a black and white interior? With high-back buckets wearing fresh seat covers, its stylish and so brilliant and fresh that youll probably feel like wearing a clean suit every time you climb behind the wheel. Black carpets with a matching dash and center console keep it grounded and serious-looking, while fresh white door panels look simply awesome. The instrument panel features a large speedometer with smaller auxiliary gauges to its right, all of which are fully functional and feature brightly rendered faces and clear lenses. The original radio is gone, replaced by a powerful Alpine AM/FM/CD and the wheel is a cool variation on the usual Tuff Wheel. A slap-stick shifter manages the TorqueFlite underneath, while the trunk offers a matching full-sized spare and a thick album full of restoration photos. By 1973, the big blocks were dead, but that doesnt mean they dont slide right in. A built 440, complete with Six Pack induction, was nestled between the fenders of this Challenger, and it delivers all the thrills youd expect for a fraction of the price. Beautifully finished to factory standards, it wears Hemi Orange paint, proper decals, and even things like the hoses and clamps are accurate. Power steering is nice with all this engine up front, and it exhales through a fresh dual exhaust system. Everything else underneath was suitably upgraded for use with the big block, including the 3-speed automatic and 8.75-inch rear end. A slick finishing touch is the color-matched wheels with plebian dog dish hubcaps wearing oversized 235/60/15 radials. Get your big block E-body fix for a fraction of the price of an early 440, and well throw in the awesome paint and interior for free. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
