 Vehicle Description
The trick to building a resto-mod 57 Chevy like this lovely Bel Air hardtop is knowing what to keep and what to modify. This one hits all the high notes, with a powerful drivetrain, upgraded suspension and brakes, combined with the timeless look weve all loved since the first day it rolled off the factory. If you like the look of the 57 Chevy, this one will definitely get your attention. When most folks picture a 57 Chevy, Ill bet a car just like this Matador Red hardtop is what they imagine. Beautifully restored to a vintage street-rod look, its hard to argue with Red. Although not a show car, this one has been done to a high standard, with paint much nicer than any 1957 paint, but thats the whole point with a red Bel Air resto-mod, right? All the chrome and trim pieces are intact, and as always, they complete the overall look of this car beautifully. Front and rear windshields are new, theres fresh weatherstripping throughout the car, and the builder wisely resisted the urge to shave, chop, or otherwise modify the timeless design. From the outside, it merely looks like a beautifully restored Bel Air. Inside, that theme continues with brand new upholstery, correct 80/80 loop pile carpet, and reproduction door panels. The entire dash has been refinished with the stock instruments fully restored and augmented by a trio of auxiliary gauges under the dash. It might be easier to say what isnt new than to list everything that has been recently replaced, but a few items include the front window regulators, dash trim, light switch, antenna, wiper motor and cables, escutcheon plates, and the rear package shelf. Modifications were kept to a minimum, but you will note that the original shifter has been modified to work with the new 700R4 automatic transmission. Even the trunk was treated to a full restoration, with a correct rubber mat and even a correct bias-ply spare tire and complete jack assembly. The whole point of a resto-mod like this is to give a beautiful old car a modern soul, and thats exactly what has happened here. A custom-built 350 with an .030 overbore, Keith Black pistons, and late-model Vortec heads makes the horsepower. It has been fortified with an Edelbrock carb atop a high-rise intake, as well as all-new accessories, so it runs like a new car. In fact, only 300 miles have been clocked on the engine and transmission since installed. The built drivetrain breathes through long-tube headers wearing a ceramic coating for longevity, and exhale into a great-sounding dual exhaust system thats subtle but authoritative. The aforementioned 700R4 transmission feeds the stock 57 rear end, which rides on new leaf springs and fresh air shocks for the perfect attitude. Up front, the steering is a new quick-ratio box along with all-new springs, shocks, and bushings, and power disc brakes. Vintage Cragar mags give it a period feel and wear fresh Goodyear RS-A radials. This Bel Air is everything youd hope your 57 Chevy would be. Call today!
