I bought several 62's fron an old tow lot 2 had D.C. generators 3 had alternators. I worked at a chevy dealer and as I can remember (I'm 70) it was an option in 62. Jackochevy

I had a 1962 Chevy Biscayne with an Alternator because it had factory air conditioning. My dad had a 1963 Chevy Impala and it had an alternator also, with out AC. I think the 1962 cars with factory AC had Alternators and they were standard in all cars in 1963.
