How do I register a 1964 titled vw in Texas as a classic? Pros or cons?
I have a title to a vw that hasn't been registered for several years. What is the least expensive way to register and drive it occasionally?

I would ask the DMV, in Washington you can title as a classic and not have to pay for tabs again. Well worth it!

You can register it as a classic and put classic plates on it but the classic plates cost $15.00 over regular registration and you must renew them and pay the extra $15 every year. Also this way the veh must pass a state inspection every year. As a classic you may drive it unlimited. Register it as an antique and you pay a one time $50.00 that is good for a license for five years and no state inspection is required but you are only supposed to operate the vehicle going to and from car show events and or parades etc. and not use it for general transpotation. ie. work or errands
