It has a 350 in it now. The emblems on the side are 8-350 (V8-350cid). There are no stickers in the engine bay. It's an automatic. Not sure what the rear end gears are, but it winds up to about 2800rpm at 65 mph. How can I tell if this actually came from the factory with a 402? I was told this was a rare option....

Approximately 44,266 K5 Blazers were made. Who knows how many were produced with 402 engines. Chevrolet didn't keep track of these production figures. So I would say that it is rare because who knows how many 72 Blazers are left out there and who knows how many have that engine style.

The fifth symbol in the VIN will indicate the engine size. The letters H, J, K, and L indicate a 350 engine while the letter U indicates a 402 engine.
