They can tell you for sure as it depends on if you have any paperwork. Did you buy it from a towing/salvage company, did they give you any paperwork. Hopefully you have a bill of sale, otherwise you may need an inspection and/or more may be required. posted:  August 20, 2008   mfmians      your best bet is to send Vin number to state motor vehicle dept. and if old lic plate are on it send numbers and request a abandoned vehicle title they may ask for info as to how long it has abandoned and where some time local Court houses can also help if a last owner of record is found you may have to send a certified letterer to last known address as to your intent posted:  October 15, 2008
