On 1966 Chevy models, serial numbers were stamped on a plate on the left front door hinge pillar. Do you need help decoding?

I have overheard before from a friend who knows a state inspector that some vehicles VIN's were actually stamped on the frames (and the serial door plate), though the exact spot is somewhat cryptic and I have never found any documentation to backup such claim....

im not sure about your 66 but my 65 has it on top of the frame like under the drivers door have to have the body off the frame to see it hope this helps have a great day pat
